Bluelab Combo Meter

There are several types of combo Ph meters out there, and this one is definitely one of the better ones. A lot of people have problems keeping calibration and accuracy in check, but as long as you clean and store the probes properly, those problems will not arise. Make sure to follow the directions and to read the description, there are several ways you can read nutrient PPM, so make sure whatever your nutrients say they are calibrated to, that this meter covers that and is set to that specific setting. These can go on sale for a very good price from time to time, so it's worth keeping an eye out for deals, and definitely jump on them when they happen.

It’s always nice when something does several jobs at once. In the desert PH and temperatures are always a struggle for fish tanks, ponds, etc. this makes it easy to keep track of both. Very well made, high quality. And that usually means longevity. It’s a bit pricey but it’s worth it in the long term. Easy to read digital display, it will take a practice to get the hang of it but not too long.

A must have for anyone who needs to read ppm levels in their nutrient solution. This is a quality meter and is so so so much better than those $20-30 meters that give readings that are way off constantly.
Yes, you will need to buy chemicals to take care of it. Yes, you will need to use those to calibrate and clean the unit at least once every 30 days. Yes, if the pH probe dries, it dies and that's not a cheap replacement.
All those things said, I've had mine for almost a year now and none of those things are a big deal. Calibration takes maybe 2-3 minutes and keeping the probe wet is easy as long as you remember to replace the cap when your done with it.
Love my bluelabs combo, cheaper than the guardian and does the same thing.

I decided to upgrade from test pens and this Bluelab Combo meter was recommended by a friend. I'm glad I took his advice. To begin with the pH meter is wickedly simple to calibrate and it even reminds you when it needs calibration again. On of the greatest advantages of this meter is the temperature compensation (real temperature compensation). If you've ever sat and watched a pH pen (or a bench top for that matter) settle on a reading you know what a pain in the backside it can be not to mention time consuming. This meter, using cold tap water to rinse the probe and room temp calibration solutions, took seconds to resolve and give a steady reading. I've used $600 dollar bench units in labs where I've worked and they don't have a thing on the Bluelab Combo complete with a hand blown glass probe. Protect the probe like you would with anything else made of glass and you'll be happy you invested in this meter. I'm very impressed!
